WA for Maritta's 60th. DAY 1 20/7/2018


Left home around 9:45 am for the trip to the airport, arriving about 11:15 am.

Bags checked, quick stop at Qantas Club for a cup of tea and some jelly beans then off to the plane. Plane was delayed about 30 minutes, apparently had a flat tyre, happens to everyone obviously. Then the long flight to Perth, most had nothing but sea as we took a shortcut across the bite to make up some time, landing in Perth at 3:10pm (WA time), 2 hours behind Melbourne.
Maritta enjoyed the free sparkling wine (once or twice...but whose counting) on the trip over.

 Collected car and then a short trip, 28km, to Scarborough for the night. Magnificent view of the bay from the 19th floor balcony but the cloud came down so no sunset.

We were both exhausted so had an early night....but that's what pensioners do !! (Perth time).

Day 9 Saturday 28/7/18 After a leisurely breakfast whilst the "hordes" were watching the Dolphin feeding then a quick look around before boarding the “Aristicat 2” for a tour of the bay. Sun was shining although it was a cold breeze out on the water.  Maritta donned her puffer jacket and Dale should have taken his coat but survived the experience. Sighted two dugongs where the first was apprently asleep.  When asleep they have to keep coming up for air and half of their brain is active as they must consciencously remember to breathe.  The other came up right under the boat and was not impressed swimming off in disgussed.  Unfortunately we didn’t have the camera ready...the look was priceless.  Sighted several dolphins, some playing around the craft, and 2 loggerhead turtle (missed that photo as well...). Day 2 21/7/18 Perth (Scarborough) to Geraldton

Awoke early, after last nights early night, so were at breakfast about 6:45am. Quick stop at the supermarket and bottle shop and then off along “Indian Ocean Drive” up the west coast. Foreshore in Scarborough Interesting awnings. Passed some enormous houses and huge amount of subdivision and construction going on, land for sale everywhere and building works continued for almost 50km up the coast. I am loving peak hour traffic in WA!! Very scrubby bushland along the coast.  On the open road heading for Geraldton Lovely sweeping roads...into the distance Massive dunes just appear out of the scrub. Watch out for Emus, Dale! Turned off to see the Pinnacles National Park just before Cervantes. Maritta is not getting much conversation from  Dale or the rock! Dale with his best stoic look!...Do I really need to do this??
